Francesco Bianchi, the Louis J. Maccini Professor in the Economics Department, has been appointed the Chair of the Department of Economics, effective January 16, 2024. Professor Bianchi is a renowned economist with important work on macroeconomic dynamics, monetary and fiscal policy, and macro-finance. Professor Bianchi has announced that “I am very happy about my new role. I believe that these are exciting times to be at Johns Hopkins, and I am very optimistic about what the department can achieve in the years ahead.” The Economics Department congratulates Professor Bianchi on his appointment as Chair and looks forward to his leadership in the years ahead.
