Assistant Professor Nicholas Papageorge has coauthored a paper, “Who Believes in Me?  The Effect of Student-Teacher Demographic Mismatch on Teacher Beliefs,” which has garnered some public and media attention.   The study, finding that white teachers have lower expectations for the future educational success of black students than black teachers do, has been discussed on a Brookings blog, http://www.brookings.edu/blogs/brown-center-chalkboard/posts/2015/08/18-teacher-expectations-gershenson, and has been talked about on NPR, http://www.ideastream.org/news/teachers-expectations-students-colored-race.
